Lectures:
All lectures have been completed in Exercises: Case Study
TASKS
Project 2, in which I designed the branding and product packaging
for Okara Balls, is continued in this solo project.
I need to create five items for this project,
including a display based on Project 2. I need to research
and evaluate brand packaging ideas and then come up with
five merchandise options that are specific to the target
market and company message.
References
I searched Pinterest for more ideas and discovered some
products that might be helpful for those who are
attempting to maintain their fitness and reduce weight.
After that, I considered what they may bring to class and
compiled a list of goods I could brand:
- Vegetarian Recipe Book
- Apron
- ECO-friendly shopping bag
- Magnets for Fridges
- Branded stickers
- Sports bottle
- Mug
- Sport towel
- Luggage tag
For all of my items I have designed my branded pattern
which is evenly spaced meatball shapes. I will be
applying this to my promotional items as well.
Designing Process
- ECO-friendly shopping bags
I covered the bag with my brand graphics, and at the
bottom I decided to put the brand logo and slogan
because it would also add a little visual weight to the
bottom.

I tried putting my design into the model and it worked
well, so I will keep this design.

- Apron
For my apron, I decided to go with a similar approach as
the ECO-friendly shopping bags, but this time I would
place the visual center in the upper center.
- Branded stickers
For my branded stickers, I designed four different
styles.

For my Sports bottles, I put the branding on the
bottom.

- Luggage tag
I thought about including a section for extensive
information on my luggage tag, so that if someone uses
the same bag or backpack as me or misplaces their
luggage, they may identify it, or the aforementioned
information can be used to locate the owner of the
luggage.I designed both the front and back sides.

Promotional Strategy
In the thirteenth week, we were asked to develop a
comprehensive promotion strategy to increase brand
awareness and drive sales. Consider various channels
and strategies to effectively reach the target
audience. Customize the promotion strategy according
to the specific goals and timeline of the project. So
I thought about what design software would have more
weight loss/fitness people. After research, most
weight loss/fitness people are young people, and the
most used social software by young people is
Instagram, so I decided to reach my target
audience on Instagram.
I started looking for other brands’ accounts on
Instagram to get some inspiration and learn their
promotion and marketing methods.

So I started to draw different layers in Adobe
Illustrator and then imported them into Adobe After
Effects to try it out.

Considering that the high difficulty of the game will
prevent many people from completing it, I slowed down
the speed of the Okara balls.

For the rest of the posts, I used templates from Canva
and resized them appropriately, then cropped them to
Instagram-compatible dimensions (1080 ✖️1080px).For
other posts I also posted a spot the difference game
as well as some video posts, which include Okara
Balls' address, activities, product displays,
promotional product displays, store photos and opening
previews.

Presentation & Implementation Plan
For our promotional strategy we were asked to prepare a visual presentation outlining the merchandise design, promotional strategy and implementation plan. Provide rationale for each design decision and promotional strategy, highlighting how they contribute to brand objectives and consumer engagement.
After studying other brands’ promotional strategies online, I began to think that our target promotional products are centered around the target audience, so the strategy for my target audience must continue to use strategies that young people prefer. I began to study the promotional strategies of other brands that are more popular among young people. In the end, I decided to launch these promotional products through small games or gifts.

Feedback
-Week 12
The design is a bit simple, try to add some elements.
-Week 13
Try sketching before moving on to the next step.
-Week 14
With the meatballs branding, there is no need to add meatballs to the product.
Try adding mini games to Instagram account.
-Week 15
Convert videos from account into posts.
Reflections
-Experience
Since Project 2 was a continuation of that project, designing the product was much simpler because I had already chosen the fonts, logo, and color scheme for Project 2. All that needed to be done was to arrange and display the data and images in an aesthetically pleasing way. It was great to be able to create my own social media profiles for this project. With my own packaging and promotional items, I felt like I had really contributed something to the growth of the overall brand, which was an enjoyable process and gave me a sense of accomplishment.
While working on this project, I came to realize that the design of each item was simpler than I had previously thought. Even if the design is simple, using brand patterns and logos, the results can still be outstanding.
-Findings
When considering what promotional products to make, I always consider my target audience. By studying and understanding what they use in their daily lives, I can achieve better promotional results. I am also very grateful to Mr. Shamsul Hamimi for his careful guidance on the project.
